The Artist's Corner: Featuring - Pastor Mohammed W.Roba

At an early age Pastor Mohammed W. Roba and his family were forced to emigrate from their native Ethiopia to Kenya when war broke out.

After several years, his family abandoned him to the streets of Nairobi  because they disagreed with his religious choices. His artistic skills developed as he learned to survive making and selling his art work. His skills eventually spanned many media, including  paint, wood paper and metal arts.

As an young adult, Pastor Mohammed passed on his artistic knowledge teaching disadvantaged youth, the physically disabled and prisoners helping them to gain self-respect through the creation of art and crafts.

His art and community service through his church and the Boran Education Children's Home and Rehabilitation Center earned recognition in Kenya by the Kenyan Television Network (KTN), received awards from the Attorney General of Kenya and was featured on the 700 Club's "The Turning Point".

Despite his success, Pastor Mohammed once again faced religious persecution and violence directed at he and his family; this time forcing him to seek asylum in the United States. Now in Dallas, Texas he is Pastor to his own ministry and has returned to the roots of his art, creating beautiful wooden art.
